ARCHITECTURE EVOLUTION

In today’s class we refresh history of architecture starting from Australopithecus. Surprisingly they had no signs of architecture as they were nomadic, so we had to wait until Terra Amata, a spring camp for hunters to discern firsts steps of architecture.

Terra Amata – Nice (France)

Neolithic, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Ancient Greece and romans

Then came other ways of building like domed huts made by animal’s skin or even some villages where the roof seems the path to go through with the help of some ladders. Far on time from there came Ziggurats and different ways of distributing cities such us the one use by Egypt all along Nile’s river. The construction of temples and pyramids were also a clear reference that architecture was even more present than ever. Later on time the ancient greeks create the polis and those tribute buildings which were colosal.

Talking about Greeks, they implement terms as “agora” which nowadays is present in our everyday lives as it’s like the main meeting point in universities.

Then concrete appear and architects started to take care about light and space; interior sights glow up themselves quite beautifully.

So, the reflexion of this post is just to open your brain as past ways of architecture may not me useful now but a source of creativeness. The way something was construct may inspire yourself to transfer those feelings gotten from there to new creative ideas adaptable to a current project.
